How to get there?
Khardongla Pass, the only motorable route that leads to Nubra velley. Its road expedition offers world’s highest motorable road located at the height of 18,380-feet above sea level, which is 50-km from Leh. Diskit is the capital of Nubra and capital of Ladak district. The Shyok River confluences Siachan River, which forms large valley which separates Karakoram Ranges and Ladakh. The Shyok Rivers one of the tributaries of Indus River.
The whole region is divided into two valleys: Shyok and Nubra. Both river leads toward heavily glaciated peaks of K2-range (Karakoram Range). The Nubra River joins the Shyok which is the heart of Diskit, which eventually enters Pakistan and joins Indus River.
Best time to Visit
The best time to visit Nubra Valley is from January to March. The places offers cold pleasant climate, but only a few options of guest house or hotels remains open. Most guest houses or hotels open’s up April onwards. If you want to catch a glimpse of Apricot flower bed, then visiting in the month of April is preferable. While, the month of May to July is peak season for tourist to explore the place.
October and September can also be considered as good visiting time, these months offers glory burning colours of clouds and sky. Accommodations options at Nubra valley is quiet good as compared to Tso Moriri lakes and Pangong Tso.
Places to visit in Nubra Valley
It has largest and oldest Buddhist Monastery, it also houses a 106-feet tall Maitrey Buddha statue. The Lachung Temple too is another great place to visit.
