Khajjiar is a hill station in Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh. The hill station is at the foothills of the Dhauladhar range of the Himalaya in the western area. The Hill station is at a height of about 6500 feet above sea level. The hill station has forests and meadows around making it very picturesque landscape.

Khajjiar was made popular and set on the world tourist map by Mr. Willy Blazer who was Vice Counselor and head of Chancery of Switzerland. He was enthralled by visiting the place and termed it as “Mini Switzerland”. He also put a display sign board showing the distance of Khajjiar from the Switzerland capital Bern as 6194 km. Khajjiar is one amongst the other 160 places in the world that has topographical resemblance to Switzerland. The Counselor took a stone from Khajjiar to form the part of stone collage around the parliament of that nation.

The hill station Khajjiar offers tremendous opportunities for fun and enjoyment. There are many trekking options open to the enthusiasts. Khajjiar to Dainkund is an easier trek of 3.5 km stretch. It starts from 6 km from Khajjiar and leads to the Phaloni Devi temple at Dainkund. This trek is excellent for the beginners and children as there is moderate ascent and is well-defined track. The entire stretch offers the trekkers excellent scenic views and lovely camping sites. There are also treks to Dalhousie,Chamba and Kalatop Wildlife sanctuary.

Though trekking is the best way to explore the area visitors have yet another option of Zorbing, this adventure involves rolling downhill. The person interested in Zorbing is locked inside a plastic zorb and made to roll downhill from the top. Zorbing can be indulged only during April and May.

There is Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 30.69 square kilometers and is over the Deodar forests on the slopes. There are Pine and Deodar vegetation with Oak. The sanctuary contains a wide variety of wildlife like Bear, Leopads, Barking Gorals, squirrels and deer amongst other animals. Visitors can either choose to go walking or can take the car inside by paying a fees of Rs. 200.

In Khajjiar there are many temples which dates back to the 12th century, among them the most sacred shrine is a Khajji Naga temple. The Khajjiar lake is also a worth visiting place in this hill station The lake is at about 1950 meters above sea level and has huge grassy landscape around, surrounded by Cedar trees from all sides. Heavy growth of weed has made its earth spongy.

The nearest railway station is Pathankot which is 118 km away while the airport is at 170 km away at Gaggal in Kangra. Chamba is connected by road to Delhi and is at a distance of 580km.
